We are located in the center of North Dakota, midway between Bismarck and Minot, with easy highway access from Interstate 94. Some folks say we are in the middle of nowhere, and I guess we are.  But if your idea of birding is to see prairie birds in their natural and native habitat, with the blaze of prairie stars and a coyote chorus thrown in as a bonus each evening, Prairie Smoke Ranch might be the right place for you.  We are about 7 ½ hours northwest of Minneapolis; 70 miles north of Bismarck, North Dakota.

Although the ranch is remote, the nearby town of McClusky includes everything needed for the traveler:  gas stations, drug store, grocery store, hardware, post office and restaurants.
